The Emergency Sirens

Click on the picture to hear a 19-second sample of the new sirens.

In the past, Sarnia's old siren system was accidentally triggered by several factors causing residents to pay little attention due to past false soundings. These new sirens employ state of the art technology and we are confident this will not occur.

These sirens can also be sounded selectively. If the situation requires action by residents of a small area, then only those sirens will be sounded.

The sirens will only be sounded when immediate action is required of citizens. This could be due to a natural disaster such as a tornado or an industrial hazard such as a vapour release.

In either case, the sirens should prompt you to listen to your local radio stations - 1070 CHOK AM, 99.9 FOX FM or 106.3 FM.

For more details on the sirens, check out the Siren Brochure and then take a few minutes to read the Personal Action Guide so that you and your family can truly be prepared.
