The Tank

Tank 11 (large one - top center) is 140 feet in diameter with a floating roof. The roof does exactly as the name suggests in that it floats on the surface of the liquid in order to keep flammable vapours to a minimum. In this particular view, however, the tank appears to have a fixed roof since the liquid level is at maximum.

The two smaller tanks to the left are also equipped with floating roofs which are clearly visible due to the lower level in the tanks.
